Nov 2018 Some of my original classmates would be the class of '57 (David Falkner and David Sheath to name just two), as some of us got streamed into the GCE classes. Professor Sir Robert (Bob) Salisbury was also in our class, as was David Griffiths. I wonder if there has been any news about the latter, as I understood that he went on to Aberystwyth University and became a professor, before going to the USA, I think to some university there. (That was told to me by an Old Boy some years ago). David Griffiths was also a great singer, well as far as People's College was concerned, singing solos at Speech Days and such like. |

You need JavaScript enabled to view it I have just been surfing the web and came across names of some of my fellow pupils between April 1948 / April 1950. I noted that some names have been Past-Presidents of the Old Boys Association. Dr.A.R.Barnes was the Headmaster my first year or so but then he became very ill and 'Hector' Henton , Deputy Headmaster took over for the duration. I recall: - ' Boris ' Wharton, teaching Literature, Mr. Attwood .. English Mr. Sissons .. Physics and Technical Drawing ' Curly ' Wiseman .. Chemistry ' Wally ' Hammond .. Sports / P.E. ' Ernie ' Leach .. Carpentry & Joinery, Plastering ' Bugs ' Kerry .. Mathematics & Mensuration. ' Puffer ' Geoffreys .. Brickwork ' Snowy ' Whitehead .. Music ( he composed and wrote the School Song ) Mr. Holt .. Plumbing ? .. Metalwork Regrettably I do not have any photographs of my years at the College but I do have my School Cerificate which I hold with pride. Although i gained a lot of knowledge across the Building Trades I had an apprenticeship to become an Electrical & Electronics Engineer. My career embraced a range of skills including work in Heavy Engineeing , Computers &, Punched Card Accounting Machines, Office Equipment, Management, Local Government, Central Government. Now retired and in my eighty - fifth year , |

(see intake1958) I live in Arizona now - did make one Old Boys Reunion but over 10 years ago. On the prefects picture I am 3rd from the left back row (with the hair). On the intake picture I am 3rd from the right on the front row I hope they are of interest. Brian James |

Form master was Mr Wharton who lived near the Three Ponds, Nuthall. We did say when we left that we would have regular annual get-togethers in the old Milterns Head Hotel. This happened for just 2 years, then like everything in life, things move on. I did go to one of the old boys reunions (1988) that were held in the Commodore. There was only 2 from my old class, Bob Stirland and another. Just 2 teachers, Danny Drew (PT teacher) and Ernie ?, who did woodworking. Some happy memories of very good technical school, the likes of which should never have been closed |
